In this edition of Mobile Monday, we’re taking a look at the top sessions to check out at GDC Europe. Kicking off today in Cologne, GDC Europe is a two-day conference held at the Congress-Centrum OST Koelnmesse.

In this lecture, Sophie Vo from Wooga will share her team’s lessons in making a maturing casual mobile game profitable and getting it to grow again. She’ll also share how to innovate an app & test new features without harming live operations. Check it out at Congress Saal 1 on the 4th level.

Tune in: Viewing a Mobile Game’s Success Through the Television Engagement Lens
Aaron Loeb of Kabam Studios will discuss how mobile games are like television shows wherein players expect new and engaging content that will keep them entertained for years. Moving beyond the first season of any app, Loeb will discuss the metrics that will guide apps through their longer story arcs to ensure multi-season success.

How Celebrity Internet Cats Kickstarted Our Studio
Herdjie Zhou of Lucky Kat Studios will take the stage at 10am Tuesday to discuss how they successfully licensed popular cats such as Grumpy Cat, Nyan Cat, Keyboard Cat, Garfield, Nala Cat, and others to create a profitable mobile Game. He’ll discuss how to create deal structures that are profitable for both the rights owner and the licensee, and will close with an inspirational story.

What Top Apps Do with IAP That the Rest Don’t
Mike Hines of Amazon will discuss how the top 50 profitable apps monetize differently, from their IAP mechanics to other tools that help developers maximize both selling prices and revenue from their in-app goods. The session will also explore how Halfbrick, Etermax, and other mobile publishers are selling non-digital goods from inside their apps…and why.
