Highlights from Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki 2016

Posted Sep 15, 2016

Early last week, some of the AdColony crew made their way over to Finland for Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki. As this is one of our shorter events (only two days!), our team made the most of it checking out the booths, sitting in on sessions, attending networking events, meeting with clients, and even exploring the city a bit.

We hit the ground running on Day 1 with a morning session led by our own Thorbjörn Warin, VP of Monetization and Business Development. His presentation focused on how the top mobile publishers are growing their app economies. He discussed what really matters, from advanced monetization metrics and ways to increase IAP to user acquisition campaign best practices and the industry shenanigans to watch out for.

We were able to catch other interesting sessions at the event, as well. One of the keynote presentations on Day 1 was particularly enlightening. It focused on the Finnish and Nordic games industry from an investor’s perspective, and highlighted the major potential in the area. We may have to plan more trips to Finland in the near future!

Although the sessions were captivating, we set aside some time to check out the booths in the expo hall.

We stopped at a couple of booths along our walk to have some fun. Pocket Gamer’s Big Pitch contestants had tables set up where people could demo their entries. One of our Publisher Growth Managers, Alasdair Pressney, was pulled right in!

Meanwhile, some of our other team members made their way over to the Rovio booth to check out the cool swag.

Good prep for the Pocket Gamer Party on Monday night! We ran into our friends at Rovio once again, and couldn’t resist a reunion.

We had a lot of fun the rest of the night at the party, and we were even able to round up mostly everyone for a quick picture amidst all the networking.

Overall, we had a great time in Helsinki, and can’t wait to come back. See you then!
