AdColonized: Getting to Know Ashley Ng

Fueled with a spark for campaign optimization and analysis, Ashley knows precisely how to create and nurture campaigns to their full potential. Ready to learn how an Ad Ops Manager rocks the mobile ad field while staying healthy? Time to get AdColonized Ashley!

What’s an average day like as Ad Ops Manager at AdColony?
On an average day, Account Managers will send in all sort of requests like, changing bid prices to restructuring the campaign, as well as, creating new campaigns in a timely manner. Basically, my role is final step before a campaign goes LIVE! My team performs any and all complex changes on a campaign before it goes live, and during its run. Being in the ever growing APAC region, our team is constantly dealing with quantity as well as quality in our workload.

I’m also responsible in hiring new joiners to our APAC AdOps team, and providing material for on-the-job (OTJ) training. Besides bringing new people on board, I also monitor team work loads, deadlines, and help answer questions. I also sometimes run reports for particular campaigns if needed.

Juggling multiple campaigns while bringing on new team members sounds tough! Tell us a little about how your experiences prepared you for AdColony.
Prior in joining AdColony, I was an Ad Trafficker Lead in one of the renowned real estate portals in SEA. They had five websites and eight mobile apps that needed to be monitored and tracked traffic daily. I created rate cards, tiers packages for sales teams, troubleshooted with the web developer, and helped monitor and optimize campaigns. This previous position definitely helped prepare me for my role at AdColony.

Why is AdColony a great fit for you?
I really enjoy the culture as well as the business aspect at AdColony. As we know, people are moving away from using desktops to doing everything on mobile. Since this is the trend in technology and the marketplace, I would say that this is the biggest reason why AdColony is the best fit for me. As for the culture, AdColony APAC feels like a startup environment for me. You can gather around quickly to discuss a campaign without needing to schedule a meeting or appointment. I think that in this startup-like environment, I can learn more quickly, which fits my work lifestyle perfectly.

Besides keeping up on the newest trends in mobile, how do you keep growing in your role?
I am always listening to new ideas and discussing the whole mobile advertising ecosystem with my coworkers to gain a better understanding of the field. I also perform my own analysis of campaigns to help build my understanding of the various markets.

What are some hobbies or activities that you look forward to doing outside of work?
When I’m not at work, I like to relax and just chill. I normally will travel to Malaysia monthly just to get a 2-4 hour massage. When I’m not enjoying some R&R, I will set up a fun bar date with my friends at one of my favorite places to grab drinks and food. I also love to travel! (Well, who doesn’t?) Last December, I travelled to seven countries and nine cities in Europe, and I crossed off a lot of achievements and bucket list stops from that trip.

Which app is keeping you engaged lately? Why?
I am really engaged with the FitBit app and some Sudoku apps. I recently got a FitBit from my boyfriend, so I’m hitting the gym often. Getting healthy was one of my New Year resolutions, thus, FitBit is my app right now. As for Sudoku, I use these apps to help keep my mind sharp. I think that it’s important to be mentally and physically healthy.

Do you have a nickname at work? If so, is there a story behind it?
“The healthy one” because I go to the gym more often than other people in the office.

For the final question: What’s your favorite moment with the AdColony team so far?
Last year, the whole team flew to Korea for our introduction to the company and training. That was the time I met with mostly all the people that I work with. Meeting everyone and putting a face to the name was the most awesome moment for me. I’m hoping that we can do another round of trips in order to introduce new members to the teams.
