Gaming Insiders 2015 Summit Highlights

Last week, AdColony joined some of the gaming industry’s leaders at the Intercontinental Hotel in San Francisco for the Gaming Insiders 2015 Summit. The AdColony stage featured sessions on design, growth, and new platforms with speakers from EA, TUNE, and King among others. Here are a few highlights from our stage:

Monetization RTS FTW!: How Not to Hack and Slash Your Way Through the Mobile Ads Ecosystem
On Thursday, Brendan Norman from Facebook moderated a discussion between Dave Madden from EA and Ben Webley from Zynga about the mobile advertising strategies that have proven the most successful for their companies, and the challenges they ran into along the way. As Madden put it, “brand advertisers are coming to mobile in a big big way.”

PEAK MOBILE: Are We There Yet?
Later that same day, N3twork’s Neil Young discussed what there is to look forward to in mobile gaming. He believes we have yet to reach the peak of the mobile games market, and that mobile native quality is an important consideration while building games to truly leverage the power of the platform.

Behavior-Based Cohorting: How to Find Your Most Engaged Users
On Friday, Jesse Janosov from Blue Crystal Labs and Spenser Skates from Amplitude explained how they use behavior-based cohorting to discover the actions that lead to or predict long-term user retention. This type of cohorting groups users based on common actions they take, and then measures how those actions affect key metrics like retention and revenue.

Your Game Is A Marketplace. How to Think Differently About Retention & Revenues
The free-to-play arena has evolved in such a way that a one-size-fits-all approach no longer works in terms of user engagement and monetization. DeltaDNA’s Mark Robinson helped game developers understand player experiences and how to use these insights to design player-centric Ad and IAP monetization strategies.
