In this edition of Mobile Monday, we are examining the latest console developers and publishers to continue their support and expansion of mobile titles, from Final Fantasy and Fallout Shelter to Pokémon Go creator Niantic Games.
Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius Launch
Fans of Final Fantasy: Record Keeper have reason to rejoice soon, as Square Enix is releasing their new mobile spinoff of the franchise later this month in Japan. Slated to release October 22nd, Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius is a throwback game that will feature pixel art in lieu of the high end graphics we’ve come to expect from the Final Fantasy franchise.
Sadly, those of us outside of Japan will need to wait for a while, as Pocket Gamer reports no release dates have been announced for other markets.
Fallout Shelter Receives Update
Highlighting the ever increasing trend to use mobile games as franchise extensions and cross marketing tools, Bethesda released an update for its mobile title Fallout Shelter. The update, which features new characters and a new game mode, arrived a few weeks before the much anticipated release of Fallout 4.
Pokémon Go Creator Receives Additional Backing
Thins are going well for Pokémon Go creator Niantic, as Nintendo, Google, and The Pokémon Company recently committed $20 million to the studio. While the public is still waiting for the much anticipated release of Pokémon Go in 2016, the additional funding will enable the studio to continue support for previous hits like Ingress, as well as potentially fund additional cross-platform ventures.
