Mobile Monday: Marvel, Star Wars & Who Plays What

Posted Nov 23, 2015

In this edition of Mobile Monday, we are covering the latest cinematic (and Netflix Original) heroes to grace the third screen and a recent report on who plays what when it comes to mobile games.

Marvel’s Defenders to Mobile
For those whose dreams are still echoing, “Birch Street, Higgins Drive, Cobalt Lane,” from the recently released Jessica Jones series, Marvel is planning to keep you hooked until Season 2 through their mobile titles.

According to a recent report by Saba Hamedy, Marvel will integrate the characters and storylines from its recent Netflix series Daredevil and Jessica Jones into their mobile titles Marvel Contest of Champions and Marvel Future Fight.

While the move will capitalize on the popularity of the Marvel Defenders to drive retention in its mobile titles, it will likewise exemplify the power of mobile apps to create new engagement opportunities for content publishers.

Star Wars Battlefront to Mobile
Of course, if everyday super heroes aren’t your cup of tea, EA may soon deliver another breed of Disney owned heroism to your mobile device via a Star Wars Battlefront mobile title. As recently teased by EA CFO Blake Jorgensen at a recent conference:

“Our goal is to make future Battlefront games as well as other style games around the Star Wars franchise, both on mobile as well as console and PC. It’s a huge opportunity for us.”

Who Will Play? Gender Split in F2P
So, who is most apt to play a game that builds off the franchise of everyday inhuman heroes or Jedi knights? According to a recent report by DeltaDNA, the answer may lie in the style of gameplay. According to their study, males are most apt to play sports, FPS, and RPG mobile titles while females are most apt to play hidden object, match three, and social titles.
