Highlights from Casual Connect USA 2016

Posted Jul 28, 2016

The latest stop on our Casual Connect global tour was Casual Connect USA 2016, which took place just last week in San Francisco. This year we were in a new venue, the San Francisco Marriott Marquis.

The Booth

To go with the new venue, we designed a new look for our booth! It’s the middle of the summer, so we decided to host a backyard barbecue.

We threw some rockets on the grill, and played a few rounds of cornhole while we waited.

Once the “food” was ready, we caught a few AdColonists enjoying their picnic in our backyard. Such a nice day for a picnic!

It wasn’t all fun and games, though!

The Sessions

On Day 1, our VP of Games Publishing, Ian Atkinson, held a morning keynote session. He discussed how the top mobile app publishers are engaging and retaining users longer while maximizing monetization and minimizing SDK bloat. He broke down best practices, must-have features, and the apps that are doing it right.

Later that same day, our CCO, Bryan Buskas, led a discussion with a panel of executives from leading mobile developers GSN, Murka, and Playtika. They went over the five most important trends app install marketers need to know right now about acquiring users and growing their apps. They covered everything from vertical video and data-driven modular creatives to 1:1 cross-screen attribution.

On Day 2, Ian took the stage once more to moderate an engaging panel with executives from Appodeal, Woobi, Magmic, deltaDNA, and Upsight. They discussed how the top publishers are influencing user behavior and leveraging different monetization strategies to maximize revenue.

The Hustle

Between all of the sessions, our team was hard at work meeting new people, and catching up with clients.

The Party

After the meetings were over, the team had some much needed fun at the official Casual Connect City Hall party, co-sponsored by AdColony.

As usual, the party sprawled across City Hall, with card tables all over the venue…

Of course,  most of our team spent the night in the AdColony VIP Lounge with our clients, which was located in the light court to the right of the main rotunda.

The Hunt

Once the party was over, it was time to get back to business!

Most attendees spent the rest of the conference sitting in on sessions, and collecting swag from all of the booths. The dedicated few, however, spent their time hunting for Pokemon.

Casual Connect caught the Pokemon fever, and hid various stuffed Pokemon dolls throughout the hall.

We EEVEEn had a special visitor hiding out at the AdColony booth!

Early in the game he was a fan favorite. He was able to avoid capture for two and a half days despite multiple clues from both the Casual Connect and AdColony teams.

It wasn’t until the afternoon on Day 3 that it all came to an end. Sunny Cha from Tenjin spotted Eevee from afar, and claimed him as her own.

GG Eevee!

The End

We had a blast at Casual Connect USA 2016, and can’t wait until next year. See you then!
