Say hello to Isida Konomi, Office Manager in the AdColony London office! From organizing and searching for all kinds of suppliers, to setting meetings, and improving processes, Isida definitely has her hands full. She comes from a finance background, holds experience in office management, and is currently studying to earn her Master’s degree in Development Management. When she’s not busy managing the office or studying for exams, she enjoys hiking and traveling with friends. Isida, are you ready to get AdColonized?
What exactly does an Office Manager do at AdColony? What’s an average day like for you?
That is a good question and I am still trying to figure it out myself. At the moment, there is no average day.
Days so far have been a mix of running around the office to make sure the roof is not falling and everything is working properly, organizing enough snacks to feed around 80 hungry AdColonists, shopping around for the best suppliers, improving the office environment, arranging meetings, and setting up processes – all while trying to remember everyone’s names and also familiarizing myself with the surroundings. Oh, and of course the temperature control, a daily dilemma 🙂
Tell us a little about your experiences prior to joining AdColony & how they have prepared you for your role here.
My experience prior to joining AdColony was more finance related, working in finance ops for various corporate companies.
It was not until my last company, ISDA (mentioned in the movie Big Short, the ISDA Agreement is a crucial document for derivative traders – have to admit that is the closest I will probably get to fame 😉 where I was given the chance to get involved with organizing conferences, logistics, and office management.
I think that working with various levels of people and also being exposed to different roles has helped me prepare for my role here.
What made AdColony the right fit for you?
The culture and the environment. Also, the role itself, which felt like a good step forward and a good challenge to take on.
How do you keep growing & learning in what you do?
I think it’s important to work as part of a team in order to learn. Aiming to always do your best! I have found this to be the best motto for growing as well as learning.
What are your hobbies or activities that you look forward to doing on the weekends or after work?
I love hiking and traveling. I can only stay in London for a length of time before I get itchy feet and need to either travel abroad for some vitamin D intake or escape to the countryside for some tree hugging. At the moment, my after-work and weekends are pretty much occupied with studying, as I am doing an MSc which takes up quite a bit of my time.
Which app is keeping you engaged lately? Why?
Pinterest and Houzz: I love them. I get all my interior inspiration from these two apps. Map My Run as well because I am training for a 15km run. Dojo, to get inspiration on what’s happening in London in terms of cools bars, exhibitions and events.
What’s one thing not many people know about you that you’re willing to share?
I grew up watching Italian soap operas and cartoons so I can understand quite a bit of Italian. And I can make a mean beef wellington 🙂 Oh, and I am from Albania, although this might not be news to some.
Do you have a nickname at work? If so, is there a story behind it?
Not that I know of 🙂 I have only been here one month so we have not reached the nickname stage yet!
What is your favorite moment you’ve had with the AdColony team so far?
Again, soon to say, but we did Go Ape on my second week here and that was a lot of fun.
