She previously worked in the music industry and has experience editing video and audio. On the weekends, Christie enjoys going to the gym, swimming, and tracking her progress through the app Map My Run. Christie, are you ready to get AdColonized?
What exactly does a Video Production Coordinator do at AdColony? What’s an average day like for you?
I work as a liaison between our video producers and clients to streamline the user aquisition video creation process. This includes vetting assets, researching what concepts work well for specific genres, and then setting up the project for our producers.
Tell us a little about your experiences prior to joining AdColony & how they have prepared you for your role here.
When I moved to LA in 2015, I worked in the music industry as an assistant to an artist manager. In my 1st year here at AdColony, I was Will’s assistant and handled the scheduling of his meetings, travel, & events. Throughout college I had edited audio & video, so I was super excited when I had the opportunity to join the creative team here a year later, and dive even more into what AdColony is famous for.
What made AdColony the right fit for you?
The people & the atmosphere! I’ll never forget my initial visit here where I had coffee & homemade banana bread with Maya and talked about life for 15 minutes, until we realized we should probably start the interview. Not everyone can say they genuinely look forward to going to work everyday. And the fact that we’re always on the cutting edge of what’s going on in the industry makes it even more motivating to work here.
How do you keep growing & learning in what you do?
My team! They are always helping me learn new tricks in After Effects, Premiere, or Composer. Other than that, I’ll watch Lynda tutorials or check out the industry trends channel on Slack.
What are your hobbies or activities that you look forward to doing on the weekends or after work?
After work, I go straight to the gym, my happy place (: Weekends I run, swim, meal prep, and ice basically my whole body.
Which app is keeping you engaged lately? Why?
Map My Run: it keeps track of pace, distance, elevation gain, and all that good stuff.
What’s one thing not many people know about you that you’re willing to share?
I played basketball in college, but after graduating I needed a new sport that I could actually compete in again. So I discovered boxing in 2016 and fell in love. Recently in June, I had my 1st amateur fight at the SoCal State Championships and am currently training for my 2nd fight in July in Long Beach.
Do you have a nickname at work? If so, is there a story behind it?
At the 2015 holiday party, also my first day of work here, we were trying to figure out a way to distinguish my name Christie Bonacci, from Christy Newton. We decided “C-Bon”, but the only person who still calls me that is Rebecca Mauzy lol
What is your favorite moment you’ve had with the AdColony team so far?
Performing “I Want it That Way” as the Backstreet Boys at the 2016 offsite in Westlake. Much preparation and planning went into this performance including practice sessions in the corner office, the AdColony kitchen, and Ceji’s Four Seasons suite, which had been upgraded to accommodate our rehearsal time.
