Mobile Monday: Summoning New Formats & Huge Deals

Posted Nov 27, 2017

In this edition of Mobile Monday, we are taking a look at what a new deal between Com2uS and Skybound Entertainment will mean for the Summoners War franchise as well as what a rather large investment means for Huuuge Games.

Com2uS Expands Popular IP
As mobile games continue to establish their place as a form of mainstream entertainment, so the most popular titles are branching out from their app roots. For instance, mobile publisher Com2uS recently partnered with Skybound Entertainment, a production company that specializes in multiplatform production and is known for its work on The Walking Dead and numerous other titles.

With the partnership, Com2uS will work with Skybound to expand its flagship IP Summoners War beyond just its signature app and into new formats. Both a comic and an animated series are reported to be in the works, and additional projects are expected.

Huuuge Games Positions for Growth
Seeking to add to their already exceptional growth, popular social games developer Huuge Games recently raised $50 million in a new funding round. The series C funding will be used to “develop new games as well as improve existing titles“. Huuuge Games is a mobile publisher known for its free-to-play casino game Huuuge Casino.

Just one year ago, Huuuge had closed a series B round of $4.6 million. Since then, the publisher has reported 900x growth. It will be interesting to see what this new, much larger infusion will mean for their growth in 2018. According to a letter posted by Huuuge CEO Anton Gauffin, large projects are already in the works:

“First of all, we have a very big vision that we are working on. To make this Huuuge dream a reality we need to be able to invest and focus on innovation and creating great experiences. On that front, I’m happy to report that team Huuuge is already actively building new games while we keep making our existing ones better.

Funding allows us to do this. It allows us to think and operate, keeping our long-term goals and objectives at the forefront vs. being led and optimizing towards maximum short-term business performance. In other words, we are putting players first, and in the long run, we believe that it is the best strategy to build the Huuuge brand and execute our vision.”
