What exactly does a Director of Engineering do at AdColony? What’s an average day like for you?
As a Director of Engineering at AdColony, I am responsible for architecting solutions for advertising technology. I also get to channel my engineering brain and get my hands dirty on the up-and-coming technological advancements.
The AdColony engineering team is a like a very nerdy family. A great set of minds to brainstorm ideal and software architecture with. I like the fact that i am given a level of autonomicity and freedom to let my design brain function.
A typical day involves coding sessions, training and mentoring my direct reports, working with product management to design and architect software solutions, and working with ops to understand what they need.
Tell us a little about your experiences prior to joining AdColony & how they have prepared you for your role here.
I come from an extensive background in research and development both in adtech and technology in general. My experience with scaleable software design makes me prepared to handle massive architecture like AdColony’s RTB stack.
Any software starts with a good design. My prior experience helps me create auto scale-able and autonomous systems today.
What made AdColony the right fit for you?
AdColony has always been a place that attracts talent because of the innovative and fast-paced nature of this workplace. Some of the colleagues that i had worked with in my prior engagement spoke very highly of it. It makes me immensely proud and content to know that i am making a positive impact in adtech on a daily basis.
I love working here!
How do you keep growing & learning in what you do?
As a self motivated geek, I am always interested in keeping up with the technological advancements in the space. The fact that I have been given flexibility to explore and come up with new products makes it a lot of fun and satisfying to nurture my inner geek.
I have been given the tools and expertise to keep apprised on industry publications and i have the necessary support to help learn and excel.
Thank you team!
What are your hobbies or activities that you look forward to doing on the weekends or after work?
I like working out, playing tennis and spending quality time with family and friends. A long satisfying week of work makes it worthwhile to unwind over the weekend. I deeply appreciate the work-life balance my work provides.
Which app is keeping you engaged lately? Why?
Ballz: a great mathematical game that calls out my inner child and geek at the same time.
What’s one thing not many people know about you that you’re willing to share?
I love mentoring potential prodigies. It gives me an immense sense of accomplishment to impart my knowledge onto the next generation. Even though sometimes I can lack a bit in patience, I think I make up for it in helping my mentees establish brilliant careers.
Do you have a nickname at work? If so, is there a story behind it?
No, everyone calls me Lokesh.
What is your favorite moment you’ve had with the AdColony team so far?
It was pretty fascinating to get recognition for my contributions and to be promoted to director. I deeply enjoy my new responsibilities and look forward to growing with the company.
