What exactly does a Video Producer do at AdColony? What’s an average day like for you?
An average day would be anywhere from designing mobile video ads for our app clients to creating sizzle reels for client meetings that showcase all the creatives done by our team. Most recently, we’ve been designing and creating playables using Composer to drive user engagement and higher installs.
Tell us a little about your experiences prior to joining AdColony & how they have prepared you for your role here.
Prior to AdColony, I’ve worked in the same field as a Motion Graphics Designer/Animator in both film and television, creating animated promo ads at Fox, the Winter Olympics, Apple, and NFL. Now, I get to do the same while playing apps all day!
What made AdColony the right fit for you?
The employees, the spirit of the company, and being part of a collaborative design team. Oh, and I can’t forget the endless supply of Twix.
How do you keep growing & learning in what you do?
Being a member of both the Art Directors Guild and Digital Artists of Los Angeles allows me to attend functions where I can to keep up with design trends and update my 3D skills from respected influencers in the design/television/film world.
What are your hobbies or activities that you look forward to doing on the weekends or after work?
I spend my evenings and weekends in hot yoga classes or training for marathons. I can also be found checking out art gallery openings, concerts, attending random events around LA, or road tripping around Cali.
Which app is keeping you engaged lately? Why?
Just downloaded The X-Files: Deep State….who doesn’t love Scully?!
What’s one thing not many people know about you that you’re willing to share?
I used to be a hair model for Vidal Sassoon which I still do from time to time. The profile photo of me relates to this story. It’s a recent hair model photo where it showcased Vidal Sassoon’s classic 5-point cut for his anniversary hair show in LA last year.
About 15 years ago I was walking down 3rd St Promenade (Santa Monica, CA) where I was approached by a stylist from Vidal Sassoon. I’m usually reluctant to stop as I thought he was trying to sell me something, but he seemed edgy and cool so I proceeded to listen. He asked if I would like to be a hair model for Vidal Sassoon’s upcoming hair show. I agreed and showed up for a “hair audition” the following week. I was 1 of 6 models picked out of dozens who auditioned.
The environment was something I was not used to. Everything happened so fast…the next thing I know we are on a plane to New Orleans, being put up at the Ritz Carlton, all expenses paid on top of getting paid to walk the runway, wearing outrageous makeup and costumes, to top it off having my hair cut on stage by the top Vidal Sassoon Stylist from London while the audience ooooh’d and aaaaaah’d at his technique. The experience was surreal and I continued to get booked when I returned to Los Angeles along with becoming BFF’s with the stylist who picked me out of a crowd at the Promenade that afternoon way back when.
Do you have a nickname at work? If so, is there a story behind it?
What is your favorite moment you’ve had with the AdColony team so far?
The LA offsite in Malibu. It was a day of celebration, bbq, tacos, and surfing at Zen’s pad.
