Say hello to one of our Campaign Managers from our San Francisco office, Alex Esposito! Alex constantly collaborates with clients and various teams within AdColony to optimize campaigns and ensure that everything is running smoothly. He loves to continually challenge himself in his role and expand his knowledge of the mobile market through reading. On the weekends, Alex loves to play video games with friends and family, and attend local metal shows! Alex, it’s your turn under the AdColonized spotlight!
What exactly does a Campaign Manager do at AdColony? What’s an average day like for you?
I work directly with our Account Executives to ensure their campaigns run smoothly with clients. Setting up campaigns, optimization requests, and reporting are among my main duties. One thing I really enjoy doing is collaborating with the AE’s and Ad Ops team to offer insights on our client’s UA campaigns.
With me being newer at AdColony, there hasn’t been an average day. There are new challenges daily that require some form of critical thinking and knowledge of the market, which makes things exciting!
Tell us a little about your experiences prior to joining AdColony & how they have prepared you for your role here.
I previously worked at a company called Naver Corp. under their subsidiary ‘Camp Mobile.’ I focused on content marketing for an app called BAND and later, the gaming forum app called Moot. Learning the process of how an app goes from ideation to market really intrigued me with BAND’s push into the United States. My team at the time was applying similar strategies plus my knowledge in the gaming market/realm to create Moot, where I had to quickly learn how to manage a content team with minimal experience.
Primarily being in a B2C role has given me perspective I feel is important when doing my job as a CM. Being on the client side of things, I can understand pain points and figure out solutions based on my past experiences.
What made AdColony the right fit for you?
The people. Some of the most intelligent and collaborative group of individuals I’ve ever met in my life work at this company. Understanding how transparent the teams were during the interview process made the decision very easy for me.
How do you keep growing & learning in what you do?
I ask a LOT of questions. But for me, asking basic questions like “How do I do xyz?” doesn’t really serve my mind any justice. Learning the ‘why’ really helps me understand and identify certain areas where I can continuously improve at my job.
Also, I try to read as much as I can nowadays. Currently working on ‘Sprint’ by Jake Knapp.
What are your hobbies or activities that you look forward to doing on the weekends or after work?
I’ll be the first one to admit that video games are my favorite pastime. I can’t pinpoint a particular title or system, but anything where I can play with friends and family online is always really fun.
Recently, I’ve been into hunting for rare games at local game/thrift shops and online. If anyone has a mint copy of The Legend of Dragoon or Xenogears, hit me up! I also enjoy going to local punk or metal shows if there’s any bands that I’d want to see.
Which app is keeping you engaged lately? Why?
I’ve been using ‘Hopper’ a lot recently for travel planning. Super helpful for finding cheap plane tickets. I also use ‘Apollo’ for my Reddit fix and Spotify for my endless urge to find new music.
What’s one thing not many people know about you that you’re willing to share?
I played hockey for a large portion of my life and am constantly searching for rinks to play at (or skate at). One of my long-term goals in life is to live walking distance from an ice rink so I can play hockey or skate whenever I’d like.
Do you have a nickname at work? If so, is there a story behind it?
Most people call me Alex by personal preference if that counts. At older jobs, I had the nickname ‘Espo’ which is half of my last name.
What is your favorite moment you’ve had with the AdColony team so far?
We had this Sip & Paint happy hour thing recently which was really fun. Check out this amazing piece of art that I painted.
