Mobile Monday: App Store Optimization & Mixed Reality

YellowHead is known for its expertise in app store optimization (ASO). Now, the Israel-based company is launching a data visualization platform for ASO which can help developers gain better results from ads.

App Store Optimization
Obtaining mobile users by optimizing the way an app can be discovered in the App Store is just another way of saying app store optimization (ASO). ASO utilizes keywords, descriptions, icons, and metadata to ensure easy discoverability of apps. YellowHead’s new data analysis tool gathers data from the Google Play Developer Console and App Store Connect, then turns the results into insights.

The tool provides visuals and analysis of impressions, page views, installs, paid-to-organic ratios, install-to-uninstall ratios, and more. The information can be further filtered by country, date range, and source. YellowHead is also working on integrating with AppsFlyer, Adjust, and Kochava, and adding automated keyword ranking reports to its offerings.

Mixed Reality
Magic Leap’s new 2D and 3D user interfaces, including Landscape and Immersive, are part of the company’s latest releases. Landscape is equivalent to a computer’s desktop, allowing users the ability to place and interact with multiple apps across a real environment, such as an office or living room. Users can choose between 2D or 3D overlays called “prisms”, which can display text, icons, and objects for efficient multitasking.

Immersive displays, which include games, museum apps, and productivity apps, are built using a 3D engine such as Unreal or Unity and have their own interfaces. Due to its more unique capabilities and controls, developers tend to go with a more immersive focus.
