AdColonized: Getting to Know Mikala Krüger

Posted Aug 16, 2018

Say hello to Mikala Kruger, one of our Key Account Managers in Denmark! She works with current and new clients as well as local agencies to conduct training sessions and presentations with LinkedIn. She has worked in digital media sales for the last twelve years and keeps up with new LinkedIn marketing solutions to continually improve what she does on a daily basis. During the weekend she loves to exercise, hang out with friends, and read Scandinavian mystery novels! Mikala, let’s get you AdColonized!

What exactly does a Key Account Manager do at AdColony? What’s an average day like for you?
I work as a Key Account Manager within AdColony’s LinkedIn Partnership team in Denmark. AdColony is the exclusive LinkedIn Marketing Solution Partner in Scandinavia (Denmark, Sweden, Norway) and Turkey. Our partnership team is accumulating approximate 50% of the EMEA Sales.

I track down, meet with and onboard new clients on a day-to-day basis. I also take care of our relationship with the local agencies. I conduct presentations and training sessions (in the LinkedIn Campaign Manager System). An average day is busy and my duties often alternate. I am in contact with 20 clients on average and have at least one client/agency meeting!

Tell us a little about your experiences prior to joining AdColony & how they have prepared you for your role here.
I have worked in digital media sales for the last twelve years in different companies: the first seven years in local Danish companies and the last five in international (US-based) companies. This includes Specific Media (data behavioural network) now rebranded to Viant, and the latest, eBay. So you could say that Media Sales run in my blood 🙂

What makes AdColony the right fit for you?
I thrive in international companies with colleagues from other countries and in a competitive sales environment as AdColony encourages.

AdColony values employee development. How do you keep growing & learning in what you do?
I keep up with all the latest within LinkedIn Marketing Solutions. I follow LinkedIn Marketing Solutions Learning programs and seek knowledge in BTB content, native, and programmatic trends. I nurture my network in the media, client and agency industries.

How do you act as a resource for the rest of your team?
I  seek to share knowledge and cases across the LinkedIn teams within the four countries. I took the lead on the LinkedIn programmatic solution, which we launched this spring, as I have experience from my previous role at eBay.

Is there someone you turn to personally or professionally?
Professionally: I turn again and again to my brilliant co worker Nanna Dahl. With her agency background, deep marketing knowledge, and three years working with LinkedIn Marketing Solutions she is THE expert!

I also turn to Ahmet Genc, our Ad Operations Manager. Ahmet is our tech and Campaign Manager magician 🙂

Personally: I always turn to my better half Thomas for encouragement on hard days.

I love his clever insights on life and his dedication to work, and I see him as an example to live up to.

What are your hobbies or activities that you look forward to doing on the weekends or after work?
I always love spending time with friends and my better half. Going out for dinner and drinks, concerts, living the sweet life. In the winter time, we sometimes hang out with friends at home and “practice” the famous Danish “hygge”. Turning on the candles, talking a night over good wine and a home cooked dinner.

I exercise three times a week doing “reform training.”  It is a functional and effective pilates-based resistance training on a reform bench where you exercise the entire body – very effective!

I also like to relax and read a good book, preferably a Scandinavian mystery novel.

Which app is keeping you engaged lately? Why?
LinkedIn: It keeps me engaged both on a professional and private level, and I get a lot of my news from it. I spend a lot of time here every day.

Tell us one or two fun facts about you.
I bike to all the client and agency meetings in Copenhagen.

What is your favorite moment you’ve had with the AdColony team so far?
I had a lot of fun and learned a lot going to  the LinkedIn Partner Conference with the AdColony LinkedIn Team from all four countries this spring. At the evening event, our team won four awards (as the only partner there) and I personally won the “Rising Star” award. A really nice acknowledgement from the LinkedIn side 🙂

What are you listening to lately? (music, podcasts, etc.)
I always go back to Bruce Springsteen. It always lifts my mood to hear “Waitin´ on a Sunny Day” – especially seeing the live version.

What are you looking forward to most in the next 5 years?
To experience new countries and parts of the world! I would love to go to Australia, Cambodia & South America.
