If you’re still pouring money into desktop or mobile web and not giving mobile its fair shake, you’re officially behind the curve according to TripleLift’s latest research on programmatic spend patterns. Also this week, we’ve got a quick preview of Tom Simpson’s upcoming session during MMA Indonesia! It’s time for Mobile Monday.

When it comes to placing mobile ads, there’s more to the equation than just display versus video. Playable ads, haptic feedback, interactive video, native functionality, and more all factor into the creative process. There’s a time and a place for everything (or is there?).

Mobile Keeps Growing — In-App Native Continues
Even though social is still the elephant in the room when it comes to mobile spend, taking up almost three-quarters of native ad spend, non-social native display spend is growing at twice the industry growth rate, according to new research published by TripleLift. After analyzing its own Native Exchange, Triplelift said that the growth rate for non-social native growth was 28% higher than in 2017.
Video is also continuing to take advantage of the strengths of in-app native advertising, accounting for 26% that non-social native ad spend. We were bullish on video last year (and the year before, and the year before that…) and TripleLift points out that 2018 spend so far is 63% higher than in 2017!
