AdColonized: Getting to Know Nitish Goyal

Posted Nov 8, 2018

Meet Nitish Goyal, Publisher Support in our AdColony office in India! From connecting with new publishers for potential partnerships, to maintaining positive relationships with those we currently work with, Nitish has a pretty busy schedule. He has experience on both the publisher end and the ad network side, which gives him lots of knowledge on tthe industry. During the weekends, Nitish loves to go swimming, watch movies, and run marathons! Nitish, it’s time to get you AdColonized!

What exactly does Publisher Support do at AdColony? What’s an average day like for you?
I take care of all the Key Accounts based in India and help them realize their full potential and reach out to new Publishers IN-SEA and bring them on our platform to keep our Active Publisher list strong. I start the day with checking the Publisher performance for the previous day and if everything is fine, I start looking for new publishers on LinkedIn or open the Google Play Store and start looking for the Apps with good potential that are not working with us. Then, I try to reach them on LinkedIn, email, or any other medium I can get my hands on.

Tell us a little about your experiences prior to joining AdColony & how they have prepared you for your role here.
I have worked on both the publisher end and the ad network side in my earlier stints. The previous companies I worked for were Indicus Netlabs and Times of India, which are both publishers based in India. I used to take care of the ad network business and helped to maximize the earnings from ad networks by talking to different networks (one of them was AdColony too) and optimizing them. My earlier role helped me understand how things work on the Publisher side and so I could pitch myself accordingly while talking to publishers here. Also, I was referred to AdColony by an Opera employee, so it did help a lot when I was joining the team here as well.

What makes AdColony the right fit for you?
AdColony is amongst the top companies in the SDK business is diversified into multiple portfolios, be it Display, Performance, SDK-based, Programmatic, etc. It does help to learn a lot of new things, which I look out for. Having a great team across multiple locations is just another topping.

AdColony values employee development. How do you keep growing & learning in what you do?
I was initially hired to work on the Publisher Ops team on the AdMarvel Network. I have worked multiple roles throughout the last 2 years before settling at my current role. Digital advertising is a fast-changing business so it’s essential to keep learning new things. I follow multiple pages on LinkedIn and have bookmarked some websites to keep myself updated with the industry. Within the company, whenever I have time, I read the Slack messages that the other team members share or subscribe to various newsletters.

How do you act as a resource for the rest of your team?
I help in securing the inventory from publishers. So, whenever there is any campaign under pacing and we need to increase inventory from Publishers/Exchanges, I bridge the gap by communicating with our team and the Publishers to help in the best way possible.

Is there someone you turn to personally or professionally?
Yes, I do turn to my dependable boss and friend Aaron Chan. I like that he is always very calm even in pressurizing situations and has quick and simple solutions to every problem. My other colleague Stephanie is also a great and fun individual to work with. She’s always smiling, which I do feel is her superpower to read my mind too 🙂

What are your hobbies or activities that you look forward to doing on the weekends or after work?
I like watching movies during the weekend and go swimming or for long runs. I do like driving a lot as well and I love traveling to new places. I actually traveled a lot during the last 3-4 years across multiple countries and India.

Which app is keeping you engaged lately? Why?
Currently, I am most addicted to the Google Assistant and PubG App. It provides answers to all my questions and I enjoy asking dumb questions to Google Assistant just to see what answer it will give. I started out playing PubG based on positive WOM and I am addicted to it now. I am a vegetarian, but I do like Chicken Dinner as well. Do send me an invite if you are playing too. My ID is shannu02 – we can play together!

Tell us one or two fun facts about you.
I am not really sure what to write under this, but I have completed several marathons, have a small garden at home, have learned martial arts, and have a guitar, which I have completely forgotten how to play now, if it counts under this 🙂

What is your favorite moment you’ve had with the AdColony team so far?
My team members and other teams that I closely work with are mostly based out of Delhi, India or in Singapore or other countries. My very first team meeting during the AM meetup in Singapore and going for Mystery Room and enjoying multiple lunches and dinner together were the best moments I remember. Also, Paola came 2 months back to the Mumbai office for a short visit and we had a lot of fun too with the entire India team.

What are you listening to lately? (music, podcasts, etc.)
I am not following any music specifically right now, but I am watching a musical TV series named Mozart in the Jungle. I like listening to FM, mostly while driving and Bollywood songs, both old and new, and I follow a few Hollywood bands too.

What are you looking forward to most in the next 5 years?
I look forward to starting my own family, traveling to new places, and being a better version of myself 🙂
