Mobile Monday: The Rise of App Support & Google Gameplay

Posted Mar 18, 2019

App extensions bring added functionality and features to your app, elevating the user experience and enabling tasks that can set you apart from others. IAB recently announced that the app-ads.txt extension is out of its beta stage, with the final version ready for adoption by app developers and programmatic media buyers alike.

App-Ads.Txt Extension
After a beta period, IAB Tech Lab’s OpenRTB released the final version of the app-ads.txt specification, which is an extension of the original ads.txt standard. This extension provides content owners the opportunity to declare their authorized digital sellers, and the final version incorporates updates for improved functionality. The update also includes an enhanced method for publishers to declare if they have no authorized sellers on programmatic open exchanges.

The app-ads.txt specification supports mobile apps, OTT, and any other app inventories, strongly encouraging app publishers, buyers, and app stores to implement the guidelines.

Google Gameplay
Last year, Google unveiled a platform where game developers could create location-based games based on its Google Maps technology. Ahead of the Game Developers Conference happening this week, the company revealed new options for art styles and gameplay within its platform.

Google’s game platform has gained popularity among developers, allowing them to take their mobile gaming experience to a new level. With top of the line algorithms and updates, Google aims to help developers create even more engaging and immersive content in real-time.
