What exactly does a Manager, Strategy and Planning do at AdColony? What’s an average day like for you?
As Manager, Strategy & Planning, everyday is different. Strategy serves as a bridge between commercial and operational teams, helping to troubleshoot any ad-hoc issues & requests that come through across various parts of the business. A lot of what we do is consultative for internal stakeholders – for technical guidance, product feasibility, and brainstorming innovative media, measurement, and data strategies for client proposals and deliverables. We are also involved with the creation and maintenance of go-to-market materials and tangible resources to share knowledge amongst internal teams. With that, as part of the strategy team, we explore and manage partnerships with third-party partners to further enhance AdColony’s strategy & offerings. This helps us to sustain competitive advantages, stay ahead of market trends and look for new solutions to support sales. Our main goal is to arm our internal teams with everything they need to be strategic & agnostic for all of our clients.
Tell us a little about your experiences prior to joining AdColony & how they have prepared you for your role here.
I worked at SSCG Media prior to joining AdColony (Opera Mediaworks at the time), which was the first company I worked for out of college. It is an Omnicom media agency focused on Pharmaceuticals, more specifically HCP. While the world of Pharma is it’s own, I feel the agency experience has been instrumental in giving me a foundation for understanding the industry and the needs of our brand clients. It’s allowed me to think smarter & more strategically as my career progressed.
What makes AdColony the right fit for you?
I’ve seen AdColony in its many different phases and for me, it excites me to see where we will go next and motivates me to want to be apart of its success every day. There is no doubt that there have been many changes since I came on board, but it has allowed me to create my own path and learn so many different parts of the business. I also have smart, great people around me every day and it pushes me to be better both personally and professionally.
AdColony values employee development. How do you keep growing & learning in what you do?
During my time here, I’ve been fortunate to have many different roles. I started as a post-sale Account Manager, shifted to a combined Client Service Manager function taking on responsibility for pre- & post-sale functions, to a player/coach management role, to now a strategy role. Being in these various functions has fostered my growth and has allowed me to learn a lot along the way. I am continuously learning through internal & external conversations and discussions. I feel I learn the most when I listen hard and ask a lot of questions to partners and teammates. With that, I start my day by reading trade articles and reports to keep up with current industry trends, news, themes, etc. I believe it is especially important in a strategy role, to always stay curious.
Is there someone you turn to personally or professionally?
I appreciate you all but, I have a great support system in my managers: Paul, Matt & Jude. And of course my work wives, Shannon & Alyssa.
What are your hobbies or activities that you look forward to doing on the weekends or after work?
Yoga — it keeps me sane! On the weekends, I look forward to spending time with my husband, friends, and family. Find me on the beach in the summers and exploring all that Long Island has to offer. My husband and I closed on a home in March and have been doing renovations. We are DIYers, so that has been keeping us VERY busy on the weekends most recently.
Which app is keeping you engaged lately? Why?
My husband and I are renovating our new home so I’ve been spending a lot of time on Pinterest to get inspired. For the same reasons, I spend a lot of time on Wayfair and The Home Depot apps recreating my Pinterest boards and spending all of our money 🙂
Tell us one or two fun facts about you.
I am pretty basic. But…I am a 1st generation American – both of my parents were born in Italy; and my whole family and I are left-handed, except for my Dad — shoutout to all the lefty’s out there!
What is your favorite moment you’ve had with the AdColony team so far?
Our Vegas offsite was a good time. But also seeing the company evolve and most recently seeing things turn around has been really awesome to watch and be apart of.
What are you listening to lately (music, podcasts, etc.)?
My listening selection is very random. I use Pandora for the most part and I like to mix it up with John Mayer, Gavin Degraw, Frank Sinatra (I am an old soul), and love a good 90’s/00’s throwback.
What are you looking forward to most in the next 5 years?
Professionally, how I take my career to the next level. Personally, getting settled in our new home with my husband, traveling some and potentially starting a family.
