Meet Desiree Janda, Sales Director in Los Angeles! As a part of the sales team, Desiree keeps a busy schedule meeting with AdColony clients and working with her tight-knit team. When she’s not working, Desiree enjoys traveling with her husband, attending Lakers games, and spending time with her new Aussiedoodle puppy. Get to know Desiree in this week’s AdColonized feature!
What exactly does a Sales Director do at AdColony? What’s an average day like for you?
t’s all about the hustle! On a good day, I’ll have a morning coffee meeting with my Sony clients, a lunch and learn strategy meeting with Amazon, and dinner and drinks with the Nintendo team.
Tell us a little about your experiences prior to joining AdColony & how they have prepared you for your role here.
Before joining AdColony, I worked at RhythmOne as the Director of Sales for the Los Angeles and Las Vegas territories. I was selling mobile in-app video and influencer marketing programs out of my home office (as the rest of the team was based on the East Coast). I was ecstatic about the opportunity to get back into an environment where I felt empowered and could collaborate with my colleagues on a day-to-day basis, to provide the utmost service, and most efficient results for my clients possible.
What makes AdColony the right fit for you?
Making the move to AdColony was an easy one. I was very familiar with the in-app ecosystem and our product offerings, and I had already been calling on most of my assigned agencies for quite some time. It was the best decision I’ve made in my career thus far. I’ve been extremely fortunate to work with such talented individuals who get the job done right!
AdColony values employee development. How do you keep growing & learning in what you do?
I am growing and learning every day! The mobile landscape is constantly evolving, and AdColony is at the forefront, which makes my job a lot easier! We’re always ahead of the curve when it comes to our creative capabilities, targeting solutions, verification partnerships, and scale. We’re able to truly educate people and clients really see our value because of that.
How do you act as a resource for the rest of your team?
On the LA sales team, we are constantly sharing our individual customer experiences, pain points, contacts, presentations, and proposals so that we can all benefit from each other’s work in one capacity or another. We’re a tight-knit group of gals, and it’s extremely rewarding!
Is there someone you turn to personally or professionally?
Yes, I have a lot of mentors! From my husband, parents, and brother to my boss (Sheeva Banton) and old colleagues. I have a large network of people that I can turn to for personal and professional advice and guidance.
What are your hobbies or activities that you look forward to doing on the weekends or after work?
My husband and I love to travel, attend Lakers games, visit wineries/breweries, check out local festivals, new restaurants, and (most importantly) play with our 8-month-old mini Aussiedoodle puppy, Capri. We recently bought a home and have had fun renovating and re-decorating over the past year, too!
Which app is keeping you engaged lately? Why?
Panda Pop (and not just because it’s on our platform). I am on level 1,005!
Tell us one or two fun facts about you.
I’ve been obsessed with cheetahs since I was a little girl. So obsessed that I’d drag my parents to all of the Cheetah Conservation Fund events throughout California, and even convinced them to adopt a real cheetah in Africa for my 13th birthday.
What is your favorite moment you’ve had with the AdColony team so far?
This is a tough one because I’ve had so many wonderful moments thus far. AdColony puts on some truly outstanding client events, and we are lucky enough to be treated to numerous team outings throughout the year. We’re definitely a family out here in LA, and I couldn’t ask for more!
What are you listening to lately (music, podcasts, etc.)?
I’m a podcast girl! Crime podcasts specifically are my guilty pleasure.
What are you looking forward to most in the next 5 years?
Taking my career to the next level, continuing to grow and learn both professionally and personally, and developing more enriching relationships that will last a lifetime.
