Meet Neha Kalra, Director of Revenue Assurance, APAC in our Gurgaon office! Neha is an important member of the finance department and came to AdColony with a strong background in revenue assurance. We love to work with the best! Outside of the office, Neha loves to listen to audiobooks, play around with her new DSLR camera, and watch her son learn and grow! Get to know Neha in this week’s AdColonized feature!
What exactly does a Director, Revenue Assurance APAC do at AdColony? What’s an average day like for you?
I manage the AR for APAC. A typical day has me working on various billing and reconciliation issues reports by clients. As I keep getting queries from clients, I have to figure out a plan for each request, whether that’s just answering it right away, escalating it to our billing/account management/sales team, or figuring out who might answer questions that my team doesn’t support directly. I work very closely with the sales and account management teams of APAC to address any queries which customers raise in the order-to-cash cycle. I firmly believe that cash is king and I am glad that my role involves ensuring good cash inflow for the company.
Tell us a little about your experiences prior to joining AdColony and how they have prepared you for your role here.
I have been working for 16 years in various finance roles, primarily revenue assurance. I have worked across banking, telecommunications, and digital companies in finance and customer-facing roles which gave me a deeper insight into customer relationship management coupled with knowledge of finance domain. In my last stint with Komli Media, I gained knowledge of the mobile ad space, which geared me for working with AdColony.
What makes AdColony the right fit for you?-
I like the autonomy and how AdColony helps us to keep striving to achieve more. I also like the sales and account management teams as they are always collaborative. Most importantly, at AdColony new ideas are always welcome which creates room for thinking out of the box .
AdColony values employee development. How do you keep growing and learning in what you do?
My role gives me the opportunity to interact with finance and business leaders across the globe. Interacting with them helps me learn and grow everyday.
How do you act as a resource for the rest of your team?
In our team, we are constantly sharing our individual customer experiences, next action plans, pain points, and contacts so that we can all benefit from each other’s work in one capacity or another.
Is there someone you turn to personally or professionally?
I lean on my mother for support. Also my spouse, Ajay, is my lifeline. We lean on each other a lot in life.
What are your hobbies or activities that you look forward to doing on the weekends or after work?
Weekends and evenings are all about my little baby. He is learning something new every day. He is trying to walk and starting to explore the world around him and I love capturing these moments. I’m trying my hand at photography nowadays. I recently bought my first DSLR camera. I love to travel as well .
Which app is keeping you engaged lately? Why?
Recently I have started listening to audiobooks on Audible. Unlike reading, I can work in parallel or take care of my baby while still listening to the books. With their monthly subscription and choice to swap books I like experimenting with new genres like science fiction, education, etc..
Tell us one or two fun facts about you.
I am a born petrol head. Gripping a steering wheel at fast speeds pumps my adrenaline. If I wasn’t a finance professional, you would find me racing formula cars.
I am a big-time foodie and love trying new restaurants and cuisines.
What is your favorite moment you’ve had with the AdColony team so far?
One moment which stands out the most was a visit to the Ireland office back in 2016. At that time, top management from the US and Oslo had a finance meeting. I was fortunate enough to meet top management from across the globe. It was fun and a real learning session for me.
What are you listening to lately (music, podcasts, etc.)?
I like listening to podcasts on startups, finance, and new technologies. In music, I am into Bollywood music and Punjabi (regional) songs.
What are you looking forward to most in the next 5 years?
I am excited to see my little one’s new milestones and achievements every day and looking forward to seeing him grow up, so that we can start showing him different countries and cultures. Looking forward to our first beach visit with him too.
