Coronavirus Impact Survey – Updated Highlights from EMEA & LATAM

While people around the world are being encouraged to stay at home to ensure their health, the COVID-19 outbreak has radically changed their daily lives and preferences around the world. As the Coronavirus pandemic continues to grow, technology usage and habits are also seeing major changes. AdColony has been surveying users periodically to gain insights on their current digital usage and behavioral changes.

AdColony’s Coronavirus Impact Survey (second edition) was distributed in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) and LATAM (Latin America) regions this week to analyze behavior changes due to COVID-19. Respondents’ ages ranged from 18 to 75 and were typically aged 25 to 44. As this story continues, we will continue to report updated insights.

Survey Highlights for EMEA

  • Social distancing has become an obligation. — 78% of respondents live in a city or state that has enforced a lockdown or shelter in place.
  • Desktop and mobile usage have gone up. — 58% of respondents said their desktop internet has increased and 61% said mobile usage has increased not including work.
  • Housework has increased. — The amount of people doing more household cleaning has jumped 11% in about two weeks since the first edition of the survey was distributed.
  • People are playing more mobile games — 20% more respondents said that they play mobile games multiple times per day and 61% are saying that they play more of the games they already enjoy on their smartphones.

Survey Highlights for LATAM

  • Social distancing has become an obligation — 63% of respondents live in a city or state that has enforced lockdown or shelter in place.
  • Desktop and mobile usage have gone up. — 51% of respondents said their desktop internet has increased and 57% said mobile usage has increased not including work.
  • Housework has increased. — More than half of the respondents (57%)  said they are doing more household chores.
  • People are playing more mobile games — 11% more respondents said that they play mobile games to relief and 13% more of the respondents are saying that they play mobile games multiple times a day.

About the Study
Coronavirus Impact Survey asked 250 people across EMEA (the countries include, Turkey, Greece, UAE, KSA, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, UK) and 100 people across LATAM a series of questions about their behavior during the COVID-19 outbreak. The survey asked about social activities, daily routines, and smartphone usage. Respondents’ ages ranged from 14 to 75 and were typically aged 25 to 54.
