It’s been a long few weeks in the industry, and while our combined efforts around the globe appear to be flattening the curve, we’re still not out of the woods (Stay inside! Wash your hands! Social distancing!) yet. Much has been written on the impact COVID-19 is having on our daily lives, our industry, our companies, and our loved ones. At AdColony, we’ve been working to do good around the world, leveraging partnerships and finding opportunities to give back to the cities and communities we call home during this unprecedented time.
Partnerships for Good
As a company founded by mobile game developers, and one of the leading monetization technology and user acquisition providers for mobile game developers worldwide, we are proud to join some of our longest-standing partners in the gaming space to support the global #PlayApartTogether initiative, encouraging people around the world to connect digitally and enjoy the amazing experiences modern games have to offer while staying inside, maintaining social distancing, and working together to play our own part.
We’ll be recommending mobile games and apps that everyone can enjoy and #PlayApartTogether across our social media platforms for a long time to come.
On a global level, we’ve partnered with companies across the adtech space to combat misinformation and increase awareness with shared facts and recommendations from the World Health Organization and help spread the word from a trusted global source on how to stop the spread of novel Coronavirus COVID-19.
In North America, we’re working with the Ad Council to help educate consumers on social distancing, effective healthy practices, and beyond. We’re also donating impressions across our network to Meals on Wheels America to help vulnerable populations at this critical time.
In Asia-Pacific, AdColony is donating inventory to eligible charities and government organizations. Eligible charities or government organizations interested in taking advantage of this, let us know! An AdColony representative will be in touch. Brand and agencies can also donate their own inventory by reaching out to their AdColony contact.
In Europe, we are doubling the donations behind our regular social support program. Our local ad operations team in EMEA is also paying special attention to the ongoing performance of all COVID-19 PSA campaigns in each country, ensuring maximum reach across the region. We’re also running studies with organizations like the Mobile Marketing Association and our strategic partner LinkedIn to help understand user tendencies during these unprecedented times.
Supporting Local Businesses & Heroes
With our entire staff working from home, our usual catered lunches are on hold. We’re instead buying meals for first responders and hospital staff in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, and the Bay Area. We’re buying those meals exclusively from locally-owned restaurants and businesses.
Locally-owned small businesses need our support now more than ever. Margins on foodservice are notoriously thin, and many are doing what they can to get by with pickup and delivery only, gift card bonuses, and more. We wanted to do the most good with our lunch budget, so we’re supporting those local eateries and services while delivering nutritious meals to the first responders and healthcare workers giving 110 percent every day.
A friend recently shared an idea – support a neighborhood restaurant and have them send the food you've bought to a local hospital to feed healthcare workers on the front lines. It is a brilliant win-win. pic.twitter.com/8rAC8ibVhM— matt barash (@mjbarash) April 14, 2020
We’re also supporting a great “outside the box” experience by the team at dotdotdash, Inc. to support independent creators hit hard by the pandemic economic slowdown. Connect with others, relax with some tic-tac-toe using an industrial robot, with AdColony matching donations.
The New Normal (For Now)
Our team will be working from home for some time to come. But that doesn’t mean we aren’t working hard! You’re probably working from home right now as well, or taking extra precautions throughout the day if you are still working at your office. We want to assure you that our teams are still creating ads, managing campaigns, optimizing monetization strategy, and pushing for your success every day… Even if they are doing it from their couch instead of their usual desk.
We’re sharing our work-from-home habits and workspaces on social to share best practices for working from home, our favorite apps to #PlayApartTogether, and supporting one another’s’ culinary experiments while we all work to flatten the curve, cooking up delicious home-cooked meals for themselves and their families, and sharing their results across our Instagram stories.

Working from home can be an adjustment, so we asked AdColonists to share their #WFHtips! Yoohyun (Karen) Kim tries to keep her #QuarantineRoutine similar to a regular day at the office, she starts off with coffee, and takes frequent stretch breaks. In her down time she’s playing @homescapes_mobile! #WFHAdColony
We’ll continue to delve into the impact COVID-19 is having on changing consumer behavior worldwide, leveraging our reach and expertise in the mobile space to share insights to help all of you adjust for the present and prepare for the future.
