AdColonized: Getting to Know Giselle Milan

Posted May 6, 2020

Meet Giselle Milan, one of our Client Service Managers, who works from her home office in the Philippines. Giselle offers excellent service to our clients in the Philippines and Vietnam. In her free time she loves watching K-dramas and is excited to get back to her usual weekend hobbies like karaoke and visiting the nail salon! Get to know Giselle better in this week’s AdColonized.

What exactly does a Client Services Manager do at AdColony? What’s an average day like for you?

As a Client Services Manager, I am responsible for the day-to-day client servicing/partner relationship and campaign management both in the Philippines and Vietnam. I work closely with sellers and AdOps to analyze campaign performance, identifying trends and areas of opportunity to provide high service levels to our clients in order to maximize their bookings and activity with our products and services.

Tell us a little about your experiences prior to joining AdColony and how they have prepared you for your role here.

Prior to joining AdColony, I worked at Komli/AdKnowledge for almost five years. I’ve always been in the digital advertising industry, with experience in social ads. I was responsible in terms of campaign execution and management of social advertising campaigns in the Philippines and across APAC. When I joined AdColony, it was a totally different environment but since I focused on client servicing, it was a smooth transition as the role and daily scope of work is similar. However, mobile advertising is tougher than social (yet also exciting).

What makes AdColony the right fit for you?

It’s the company values and appreciation towards the employees that I like the most. The continuous transformations and changes happening internally that pushes each and every employee to have a dynamic working relationship and encourages everyone to work as one team, to dream crazy, and deliver the “wow.”

AdColony values employee development. How do you keep growing and learning in what you do?

AdColony offers various ways for me to learn. From the weekly drop-in clinic and Client Services Manager calls, they both serve as a learning hub for me up to the testing and experiments. Working closely with the Technical AdOps team and CSMs provides an opportunity for me to grow and be well-equipped with knowledge and experience. Every challenge that I face daily pushes me to analyze, observe, and troubleshoot which makes me more confident in handling campaigns and servicing clients.

How do you act as a resource for the rest of your team?

With the changes and technicalities that we’re facing day by day, I try to understand the situation and adapt as much as I can. If I have no idea what the solution or answer is to the issues, I try to always ask questions and seek guidance. I’m also always sharing updates with the team or information that I’ve learned so I can support them.

Is there someone you turn to personally or professionally?

Personally, my family and partner. They are my pillar of strength. Professionally, I cherish my working relationship with the PH team (Paula and Charlotte) as they are calm, organized, and considerate. I also value my working relationship with my co-CSMs (Dimas, Judith, Faith, Alyaa, and Deanna) and TSMs (Shavon, Syazni, Esra, Naga, and Vasanth) because they are very supportive, pleasant, and fun to work with. Lastly, I am privileged to be mentored by Asim (our Sr. Director of Ad Operations) and Priyanka (our Sales Director) because they are always pushing me to be better and I’m learning a lot from them.

As someone who regularly works from home, what tips or tricks can you share that have helped you work from home successfully?

Before I start working, my morning routine includes daily devotion/meditation, cardio exercise for at least 30 minutes, shower and get dressed, and making a cup of coffee to boost my energy. As for the workspace, I try to work in my small workspace as much as possible instead of working on a couch or my bedroom to have a right frame of mind. I also use the same schedule at home as I would in the office to keep work-life balance.

Apart from the daily tasks, I ensure to show up in meetings/conference calls as well as attend training opportunities provided by the company. In terms of taking breaks, I allow myself to have 1-hour lunch break and this includes around 15-20 minutes to walk in our terrace to get some fresh air and clear my thoughts. So far, this daily routine helps me to work productively/successfully.

What are your hobbies or activities that you look forward to doing on the weekends or after work?

Usually after work I like to watch TV series/K-dramas on Netflix or play mobile games. On weekends, I look forward to going to a nail spa or getting a massage, but sometimes I just want to eat ramen or Samgyeopsal. If it’s a long weekend, I look forward to a short vacation; it could be a quick beach getaway with my partner with cocktails and good music.

Which app is keeping you engaged lately? Why?

Ragnarok Mobile! It’s very engaging because of the quests and guild activities. It challenges me to improve the skill sets of my in-game character Warlock. I also have new found friends because of the guild I belong to.

Tell us one or two fun facts about you.

They say that Filipinos love karaoke. Well, I can attest to that because I have my own karaoke song list and I used to sing under our old mango tree at home! Also, we used to have a pet monkey who sits on the same tree! Whenever I sang, she would try to pull my hair and throw mangoes at me! Yes, we raised such a cheeky monkey.

What is your favorite moment you’ve had with the AdColony team so far?

The AdColony kick-off 2020 in Bali! I was able to meet almost everyone that I work with. Also, I enjoyed the team building part where we built bikes for a good cause.

What are you listening to lately (music, podcasts, etc.)?

Today’s top hits and POP playlists on Spotify. I also listen to ‘90s hits to reminisce and for good vibes.

What are you looking forward to most in the next 5 years?

Personally speaking, I look forward to getting married and raising my own family, running a few franchise businesses, and a house renovation for my parents. Professionally, I want to master my programmatic skills.
