Meet Seher Basaran, a Senior Campaign Manager who works in our Istanbul office! A member of one of our fastest-growing offices, Seher’s days are filled with monitoring campaigns and data, and making the necessary adjustments for success. She is big on meditation and social media apps lately. Get to know her better in this week’s AdColonized feature!
What exactly does a Senior Campaign Manager do at AdColony? What’s an average day like for you?
My role is based in Brand Operations and I am currently focused on the EMEA & LATAM regions. I generally start my day with a quick look at my emails to see if there are any urgent requests, then I check the data for all my current campaigns. The campaign checks are the most important part of the day since we need to make sure the campaign tracks and reaches our clients’ goals. Generally, mornings are all like this.
The afternoon is mostly filled with client requests such as optimizations, campaign updates, etc. I finish the day with a quick look at the campaigns again. The day usually ends with a great sunset that we can see from our Istanbul office. During the lockdown I can see it from home as well.
Tell us a little about your experiences prior to joining AdColony and how they have prepared you for your role here.
I had a couple of internship experiences before AdColony. These internships were all in different sectors and I got the chance to see a glance from different environments. Those all made me realize what I want, or I don’t want, as a career. I am now in a completely different sector and a work environment. I can see it fits now more than ever.
What makes AdColony the right fit for you?
The best part of AdColony is its changing and growing environment. There are three times as many people in our office now compared to my first day. The business is constantly improving and AdColony is growing with it simultaneously. Also, it is mostly the people! I had a chance to work with different teams during my journey here and I learned a lot from each of my teammates. Some of them became more than just a colleague to me.
AdColony values employee development. How do you keep growing and learning in what you do?
There are always changes and developments in what we do. I am continually learning even though there isn’t any additional thing that I do in an average workday. Additionally, there are lots of valuable people in our company. Most of the people are always there for you if you need their knowledge and experience.
How do you act as a resource for the rest of your team?
My role also requires solving the obstacles we are facing. The answers to these obstacles are always hidden behind some data or research. I’ve never hesitated to find those answers. There is always a chance to grow together when any new information pops up from somewhere in the desert.
Is there someone you turn to personally or professionally?
The biggest support was Mehmet Ayan during my journey here. He is always a mentor and problem solver I can count on.
Many AdColony employees globally are still working from home. Do you have any work-from-home tips for success you can share?
I start my day with a quick meditation and a good breakfast. This really gives me a boost for the day lately. I am working in a different room rather than a room that I spend most of my time in. This helps me separate my working hours and personal time.
What are your hobbies or activities that you look forward to doing on the weekends or after work?
I enjoy watching tv series or movies after work. I paint with watercolor and it is a perfect way to get away from all the stress. And lately I am looking forward to hanging out with friends, which I do a lot in a pandemic-free world.
Which app is keeping you engaged lately? Why?
Instagram and Twitter. I use Instagram a lot to share funny posts with my friends, my feed is full of them. Twitter is mainly for following opinions on the news and some memes.
Last but not least, Meditopia! It’s a perfect meditation app.
Tell us one or two fun facts about you.
I love singing alone very loudly.
What is your favorite moment you’ve had with the AdColony team so far?
There are so many! One of my favorites was our week in a summer house in the south. Also, I really enjoy our spontaneous hangouts in our lounge at the office.
What are you listening to lately (music, podcasts, etc.)?
I discovered the Turkish singer Karsu recently and I have them on a loop nowadays. My favorite song is “Reloading My Mind”.
What are you looking forward to most in the next 5 years?
I am looking forward to discovering more about myself and seeing growth in every way. Also, discovering new places and experiencing new adventures.
