Meet Cande Lopez, our Manager of Interactive Design who works out of our Los Angeles office. Cande keeps the LA office laughing with his hilarious jokes and has continued to keep them smiling over Slack as everyone works from home. An integral part of the creative team, he is a resource to everyone he works with! Get to know Cande better in today’s AdColonized feature!
What exactly does a Manager of Interactive Design do at AdColony? What’s an average day like for you?
Well there are no average days at AdColony, but my typical duties include coordinating time and resources for upcoming creative projects, brainstorming sessions with the sales team, searching for the perfect GIF reactions, and working with the engineering team on Composer development and ad unit builds.
Tell us a little about your experiences prior to joining AdColony and how they have prepared you for your role here.
My previous positions have been so varied, from visual development at Disney Interactive to online advertising at RPA, but they’ve all helped form my creative senses that I rely on in my current role.
What makes AdColony the right fit for you?
Two words: free t-shirts. We also get to work with so many different clients and brands at AdColony, all with different needs. I enjoy the challenge of helping them interpret what they need into the mobile space.
AdColony values employee development. How do you keep growing and learning in what you do?
I try to keep track of emerging entertainment and technology trends, not just where they currently are but where they’re possibly leading and how they might influence the mobile space. I also stay up-to-date on all the Adobe creative tools the team uses.
How do you act as a resource for the rest of your team?
I do my best to make sure our award-winning design team has all the assets, direction, and answers they need before they get started on any projects.
Is there someone you turn to personally or professionally?
When it comes to work matters, I know I can turn to just about anyone on our team, or in the entire company, for answers or support. I think everyone has done a great job of being an available resource, especially during this unusual time.
What are your hobbies or activities that you look forward to doing on the weekends or after work?
Weekends are for naps. Catching up on the latest movie releases. Siestas. Drawing. Sleeping in.
Which app is keeping you engaged lately? Why?
Hands down the ProCreate app for iPad. It’s such a simple and intuitive app yet so robust for creatives. Keeps me well-occupied and productive.
Tell us one or two fun facts about you.
I love jokes and making puns. I also enjoy wine tasting. Sometimes the latter enhances the former.
What is your favorite moment you’ve had with the AdColony team so far?
I’d have to say it was the Creative Summit in Istanbul. It was great meeting the teams from all our other regions, finally putting faces and personalities to coworkers I Slack with almost everyday. Plus I got introduced to raki and beyran!
What are you listening to lately (music, podcasts, etc.)?
Spotify is so perfect for my miscellaneous musical tastes. I just put my liked songs playlist on random and go from there.
What are you looking forward to most in the next 5 years?
Hopefully being able to look back and laugh at that crazy period when we all had to wear masks and stay home.
