What exactly does an HR Generalist do at AdColony? What’s an average day like for you?
As a HR Generalist, I’m responsible for all the aspects of Human Resources and communication within the EMEA region. My average day consists of a wide range of aspects; starting from checking emails, updating reports, reaching out to people, and organizing my day accordingly.
Tell us a little about your experiences prior to joining AdColony and how they have prepared you for your role here.
Before AdColony, I worked in the FMCG and banking sectors. Every role of mine was in a different unit of HR, so in the position of Generalist, all of the positions I experienced help me to achieve my best self here.
What makes AdColony the right fit for you?
Kind relationships with people, a fast-paced environment, and self-development opportunities are some of the things I can share.
AdColony values employee development. How do you keep growing and learning in what you do?
I get the chance to be in a role that consists of all of the HR roles. Even if I had prior experiences, this position gives me the opportunity to use them all and meet new challenges. AdColony gives you the space for making mistakes and also learning from them. In the end, those mistakes are the ones that help you grow.
How do you act as a resource for the rest of your team?
We are a small, four person team in İstanbul, so I always try to keep myself available for them. We have different strengths, so it wouldn’t be wrong to say that we complete each other. We always keep one another updated and share the information or news we get.
Is there someone you turn to personally or professionally?
I turn to my team; Canten, Seda, and Duygu.
Many global AdColony employees are still working from home. Do you have any work-from-home tips for success you can share?
Plan your agenda and separate your times; use your calendar. Breaks are important; with the lock downs and limitations, there are personal life struggles. Try to stay in the working hours, they are set for a reason, don’t consume yourself in work 24/7.
What are your hobbies or activities that you look forward to doing on the weekends or after work?
I’m a passionate TV series and movie follower. Due to the lock down, I try to keep myself busy in the house by watching movies, lots of cleaning, and rearranging the apartment.
Which app is keeping you engaged lately? Why?
Instagram. As I stay at home, it’s nice to see what my friends are doing or stuff outside of the pandemic.
Tell us one or two fun facts about you.
I used to be a professional horse rider, now it’s just a hobby.
I’m writing in my friend’s blog, which has lately become a very enjoyable hobby for me.
What is your favorite moment you’ve had with the AdColony team so far?
I cannot share a specific moment, but lately my favorite thing is meeting with my team in the office.
What are you listening to lately (music, podcasts, etc.)?
I’ve never been a podcast listener or a person who always plays music in the background. Recently, I’ve been mostly listening to Billie Eilish and Halsey.
What are you looking forward to most in the next 5 years?
I want to be in a position where I can just look back at now and realise how much I’ve accomplished.
