Meet Sasha Mircov, VP of Brand Performance, working out of our San Francisco office! Sasha has been with AdColony for eight years, so before it was even AdColony! He worked in the advertising space before joining our team and is happy now to be working as a resource and to provide support for his team. Sasha is an avid reader (one book a week to be precise!) and also plays in a prog-rock band. In this post, Sasha shares his favorite apps, advice for working from home, and why AdColony is the right fit for him. Get to know him better in this week’s AdColonized employee spotlight!
What exactly does a VP of Brand Performance do at AdColony? What’s an average day like for you?
I see my role as a supportive role. I support the people on the team as they go about doing their jobs. I make sure they have the tools they need, provide answers to their questions, and help them navigate the uncertainties inherent in our industry.
Tell us a little about your experiences prior to joining AdColony and how they have prepared you for your role here.
Before AdColony – or in my case, Mobile Theory that Opera Software acquired – I was in the advertising agency world. I worked as a media planner and buyer, working with and buying from many different ad networks and media vendors. In other words, I was in the role of a client. Hence, I am intimately familiar with the mindset of people and companies AdColony is servicing today.
What makes AdColony the right fit for you?
People. People come first for me. Both within and outside the team. Not all people and not all the time, but personal connections make us feel we belong to a place.
AdColony values employee development. How do you keep growing and learning in what you do?
Historically, the team and I have been wearing multiple hats. To wear numerous hats, you need to be able to know and do numerous things. We keep that spirit alive today.
How do you act as a resource for the rest of your team?
That is precisely how I see my role.
Is there someone you turn to personally or professionally?
The same way I see my role within the team – a supportive role to other professionals – I see the role of my immediate manager.
Many global AdColony employees are still working from home. Do you have any work-from-home tips for success you can share?
A mandatory cardio workout after the work day is over to mark a break between work time and home time, both as an activity but also bio-chemically.
What are your hobbies or activities that you look forward to doing on the weekends or after work?
I play drums in a prog-rock band and read a lot, close to one book a week.
Which app is keeping you engaged lately? Why?
LinkedIn, BBC, Spotify, and Robinhood.
Tell us one or two fun facts about you.
My favorite food is corn.
What is your favorite moment you’ve had with the AdColony team so far?
I’ve been with AdColony (or the iteration of it) for eight years and have many memories. Some of the more salient ones are from the times we had company retreats.
What are you listening to lately (music, podcasts, etc.)?
Podcasts: Mindscape by Sean Carroll and Complexity by Santa Fe Institute. Music: Tool
What are you looking forward to most in the next 5 years?
To see my daughter grow. She was born last year in September.
