AdColony Launches Business in Domestic China

Leading In-App Video Ad Platform Now Operating in World’s Largest Smartphone Market

LOS ANGELES & BEIJING — DECEMBER 14, 2017 — AdColony, the leading independent mobile advertising platform, today announced the company’s official launch into domestic China, the world’s largest smartphone market and leader in app store revenue.

AdColony’s previous operations in China involved working with Chinese developers to reach consumers in other international markets, and the business is now expanding so developers can reach consumers inside domestic China as well. Mobile video ads will be run through local technical infrastructure to ensure superior speed and quality, and all Chinese developers can receive and make payments in both RMB and US dollars.

In 2016, China had 731 million internet users, more than half the population and more than twice the entire population of the U.S., and 95 percent of Chinese internet users went online through mobile devices. This is translating to ad spend, and according to eMarketer, by 2021, almost 60 percent of all media spend in China will be mobile, including over 80 percent of all digital media. Video ad spend in China is projected to grow to over $17 billion by 2021, with mobile video making up over 70 percent.

“People in China have embraced mobile more so than practically any other place in the world, and there is a tremendous opportunity to bring advertising solutions to market that will help app developers tap into this,” said Will Kassoy, CEO of AdColony. “It’s taken a considerable amount of planning in order to ensure that we’re bringing a solution to domestic China that meets the high standards we have for ourselves, and we are confident that we will make a real impact in the market. The expansion into domestic China will allow current partners to scale campaigns and expand their reach further into the local Chinese market, and the increased local demand will also allow AdColony to bring on new partners looking to serve ads to Chinese consumers.

As part of the launch in domestic China, AdColony, and the company’s new GM of the region, Adams Ma, hosted an event with AppsFlyer that attracted over 150 attendees from leading Chinese developers. AppsFlyer recently ranked AdColony in the top 4 for both iOS and Android in terms of delivering ROI in app-install campaigns, and the event was the first opportunity for many leading developers in the region to hear about the AdColony solution.
