AdColonized: Getting to Know Ceji Bourgeois

Posted Jan 12, 2017

Ever wondered what it would be like to manage multiple offices across the country and keep all seven branches happy? Meet Ceji Bourgeois, the Manager of Office Administration at AdColony! She first gained experience at an independent film finance and production company, taking on many duties such as the executive assistant/office manager/production coordinator. With a passion for organization and creativity, Ceji is definitely the jack of all trades- It’s time to get AdColonized!

What exactly does a Manager of Office Administration do? What’s an average day like for you?
As Manager of Office Administration, my main goal is to make sure all of the US office managers are on the same page. This ensures that the culture across the entire nation is in sync and aligns with AdColony as an organization. Occasionally, i’ll travel to the different offices to verify that everything is going smoothly or to coach other office managers. My team and I regularly meet online (zoom meetings), plan all of the company events, which includes, ordering materials for the office and arranging meetings.

I successfully rolled out Mediaworks University, a educational program that helps create transparency between teams inside the organization. I have also launched the internal employee newsletter called OfficeGram. An average day is pretty much a little bit of everything mentioned above. Additionally, I may have individual calls/meetings with my team members or a few other random tasks may arise that I’ll need to take care of.

What made AdColony the right fit for you?
My previous position gave me the opportunity to wear many hats, which helped hone my skills in multitasking and organizing. I knew that all of this would be instrumental to my success at AdColony. But really, the company culture is what made AdColony the right fit for me! I love the transparency, opportunity for growth/advancement, and the fact that there are ample resources and colleagues easily accessible to assist if needed.

How do you keep growing & learning in what you do? Taking any classes perchance?
I’m a firm believer that in anything you do and like to keep, there is always room for growth. This prompted me to I enrolled back in school last year, and I am currently working towards a Management certification. This semester I’m taking a PR class and an ‘Intro to Selling’ type course.

Skydiving was so much fun!

Besides work and now school, what are some of your favorite hobbies or activities?
I’d like to think of myself as super adventurous, as I love to travel and attend concerts! If one of my favorite artists is touring or if there’s an opportunity for me to get out of LA for a few days, you can almost always count me in. I’m also a huge football fan (#GoPackGo), so I’m usually glued to the TV all day Sunday.

Since you have a passion for traveling, what’s the last city you fell in love with and why?
At the end of July, for my birthday, I visited Toronto, Canada! What I loved the most about it was the restaurants, diversity, and how nice and welcoming the people were. The architecture/structure of downtown was beautiful as well. Also, I’m a huge Drake fan, and saw him perform live in his hometown; which was pretty much the icing on cake for that trip.

Snow and photos go hand and hand!

Is there any app keeping you engaged lately?
I know I’m a little late to the party, but I recently joined SnapChat and love it! I think it’s cool to see what people are up to in real time.

What’s one thing not many people know about you that you’re willing to share?
I can change my voice to speak with different accents, and I have to admit that my UK accent is pretty legit.

AdColony in Vegas! Can’t wait to go on more adventures with the team!

Do you have a nickname at work? If so, is there a story behind it?
I don’t know if I would classify “Ceji like Fiji” a nickname, but when I first started working for AdColony and when meeting someone new, I always introduce myself as Ceji like Fiji. Over the years, I’ve found it’s the easiest way to get people to remember and pronounce my name correctly.

And finally, what has been your favorite moment with AdColony so far?
My favorite moment with the AdColony team hands down was our trip to Vegas in August 2014. It was so fun to hang out and interact with everyone outside of the office.
