Event Preview: MIGS 2017

Hosted in Montreal, Quebec, from December 11th to 13th, The Montreal International Game Summit is where experts in video game development gather from all over the world and share their knowledge with local and international professionals. Conference sessions, master classes, personalized coaching, and tons of networking opportunities make MIGS one of the top December industry events!

Three days of information, inspiration, and new business connections makes MIGS a must-attend event. The AdColony team will be there, so be sure to reach out if you’ll also be in attendance!

From the official Business and Mentoring Lounges to over 80 technical and creative sessions on industry trends and issues, MIGS will offer lots of insight to its guests.

Master Class: UX and Cognitive Science Applied to Game DevelopmentTuesday, Dec. 12th, 9am-5pm
Celia Hodent from Epic Games leads a master class that deep dives into the functions of the human brain in terms of perception, attention, and memory. This course offers a user experience framework to use cognitive science/psychology knowledge in different development stages.

Branded and IP Based Games: The Pros and ConsTuesday, Dec. 12th, 1-2pm
Caglar Eger, Dean Takahashi, Louis-Rene Auclair, and Matthew Leopold discuss the pros and cons of making games with a licensed IP.

Darwin Project: Break the Traditions to Create Top QualityWednesday, Dec. 13th, 9:30-10:30am
Charles Philip Simard and Jonathan Simard from Squeeze talk about how they optimize resources available, using creativity and precision at every production step, to build a high-quality project despite many technical challenges.

In the Long RunWednesday, Dec. 13th, 2:15-3:15pm
Fredrik Liljergen, Henrik Jonsson, Marie Mejerwall, Tanya Short, and Tina Merry speak about long term perspectives in game development and how we as individuals, companies, and communities can support and encourage life-long careers in game development.

About MIGS
MIGS is a meeting place for successful professionals in the video game development industry to share their experience and form valuable business relationships. The yearly summit is filled with speaking sessions, live demos, experience zones, one-on-one coaching, and master classes from industry experts. To add, MIGS hosts a tournament where two Quebec Indie Games go head-to-head in a live contest, as well as an Indie Pitch Contest, where Indie studios can pitch their games in front of a jury and win prizes.
