AdColonized: Getting to Know Britany Scott

Posted Dec 16, 2020

Meet Britany Scott, Senior Sales Director, who works from her home office in Illinois. Britany focuses on central North America and works with some of the top companies and brands in the region. As someone who worked from home prior to the pandemic, she has some excellent advice on making this “new normal” a bit easier. Get to know her better in today’s employee spotlight!

What exactly does a Senior Sales Director, Central do at AdColony? What’s an average day like for you?

As a Senior Sales Director, I work with clients all across the central region of the US, providing solutions and partnerships for branding awareness and branding performance campaigns. My days are packed solid with client meetings, internal brainstorms, and team check-ins. I grab a Starbucks at 8am, drop off my little girls at their school, and dive into my emails and Zoom calls to see what the day will bring.

Tell us a little about your experiences prior to joining AdColony and how they have prepared you for your role here.

Prior to joining AdColony, I worked as a Sales Planner at Hulu and before that, a media associate at Starcom. Both those positions taught me the basics of media, as well as organization, prioritization, and teamwork- all pretty crucial to my current role.

What makes AdColony the right fit for you?

Innovation. The mobile in-app environment is changing constantly, and I love that AdColony is working to grow and adapt to our client’s advertising needs and the current climate. No two campaigns run the same, no two days are the same, and we work to offer our clients a variety of solutions that fit their specific needs. In addition, I’ve never met a better group of co-workers than what I have found with AdColony.

AdColony values employee development. How do you keep growing and learning in what you do?

For my first 4.5 years here, I worked as an individual contributor and learned so much about the mobile space, our role in it, how to work best with our client’s needs, etc. A lot of what I do as a seller stems from fostering relationships (both internally with my team and externally with clients) and this is something I put major focus into during my first few years. Since becoming a manager, I am constantly seeking ways to become a better leader, help to inspire others, and lead by example.

How do you act as a resource for the rest of your team?

I am the longest running brand seller, so I can speak to a lot of our past offerings and learnings. As a brand sales leader, I love brainstorming new ideas for the company and helping bridge the gap between what our clients are asking for and what we can offer.

Is there someone you turn to personally or professionally?

My sister is my absolute best friend in the whole world, and she also works in the media sales space (thankfully- not for a direct competitor!). She is my rock across the board 🙂

Many global AdColony employees are still working from home. Do you have any work-from-home tips for success you can share?

I worked from home prior to the pandemic, and I think the best advice I can share is defining your time. Making sure to still set aside a lunch break, take walks and breaks during the day (having a dog helps!), and shutting down the computer at an appropriate hour. Also- STRETCH! Sitting at a desk all day is KILLING our backs!

What are your hobbies or activities that you look forward to doing on the weekends or after work?

My husband and I have two little girls, Cece (3) and Ciara (1) and pretty much every moment that I am not working is spent with them 🙂 When I can find some “me” time, I  carve out time for Peloton classes, drinks/dinner with my friends (even if it has to be virtual), and binge watching the Bachelor/Bachelorette.

Which app is keeping you engaged lately? Why?

We don’t put a ton of pictures of our girls up on social platforms, but instead share daily pictures with close friends and family thru the TinyBeans app. I have a cousin that uses it to share pictures of her children as well so I’m constantly scrolling through her feed and uploading content.

Tell us one or two fun facts about you.

My absolute favorite celebrity of all time is Steve Martin- no one even comes close.

I can tap dance! I took lessons and actually taught classes for years. My oldest daughter now attends class at a studio owned by one of my friends I met and danced with while growing up.

What is your favorite moment you’ve had with the AdColony team so far?

There are so many, but I would have to say the nights spent at the CIMA (Chicago interactive Media Association) holiday parties are always amazing. Huge thanks to my teammates that fly in to attend the event with me. We spend the day hosting clients at a blow-dry bar and dance the night away each year.

What are you listening to lately (music, podcasts, etc.)?

My infatuation with the Bachelor franchise is real, so I do listen to the Reality Steve podcast for spoilers and other info. It’s a totally embarrassing guilty pleasure.

What are you looking forward to most in the next 5 years?

From a personal level, I have always wanted to be a mom and I love nothing more than raising my two daughters. I look forward to watching them grow and find ways to better adapt to and balance the life of a “working mom”.
