Blue skies, ocean views, and the gaming industry were in harmony last week at VentureBeat’s GamesBeat 2016. A few of our executives made their way down to the Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes to attend the conference, and catch up with the industry’s leaders.
The conference featured sessions on the gaming industry’s latest trends, growth opportunities, technical directions, and newest monetization opportunities. Our own David Pokress, SVP of Monetization & Publisher Relations, led a panel discussing the challenges of making money and preserving excitement for gamers. Keep an eye out for a deep dive into the panel soon!
In addition to the riveting content, VentureBeat provided plenty of opportunities for the attendees to network. What better place to meet new people than this?
AdColony hosted the mixer on Day 2 to the beautiful backdrop of a sunset over the ocean. There was music, food, and plenty of margaritas to go around!
One of the more unexpected networking events included seekers, chasers, and remote-controlled aircraft. That’s right – any interested GamesBeat attendees got a chance to play drone quidditch!
Quidditch is a sport in the Harry Potter universe that has been adapted for Muggles (non-magic folk) by the series’ enthusiasts. Instead of broomsticks, add in some drones, and it’s the perfect activity for a gaming conference.
All in all, we had a good time at GamesBeat this year, and we look forward to coming back in 2017. See you then!
