Did you know that there are 41.6 million mobile internet users in South Korea alone? That’s a lot of typing and tapping, not to mention all the eyes glued to screens. With so many mobile users online, there’s also a ton playing mobile games and staying entertained.
Mobile gaming consumers are a pretty diverse bunch, as our previous research has indicated. Having covered the global Under the Microscope Survey results, which looks into the typical sessions, habits, and preferences, of mobile gamers, now, we’ll dive into the results specifically from Korea!
Highlights from Korea
- 54% of mobile gamers in Korea are male and 61% have children at home
- 35% of Korean users play mobile games 5+ times per day
- Typical gaming sessions occur between 8pm and 12am
- On average, mobile gaming sessions last 60 minutes or more
- Top factors in choosing a mobile game to download include app store ratings, friend/family recommendations, and mobile ads
- 32% feel very happy or happy while playing mobile games
- 74% selected “home” as the location they typically play mobile games
- 60% of respondents play games with the audio off or silenced
- 81% prefer to watch video ads for extra lives and/or in-game content
