Mobile Monday: Digiday Publishing Summit in Biscayne

Posted Sep 19, 2016

In this edition of Mobile Monday, we are taking a look at the top sessions to attend at the Digiday Publishing Summit taking place this week in Key Biscayne, Florida. The sold-out three-day event features a much anticipated schedule of sessions, including:

Publisher Town Hall
The first session of this publisher-only discussion takes place Monday afternoon and will feature executives discussing the biggest challenges their organizations are facing in an attempt to come up with potential solutions. A brief review of the hot topics covered in this session will be shared during the Town Hall Report and Challenge Board Review at 5:35pm on Day 1. A subsequent publisher town hall will take place the morning of Day 2

Top Monetization Strategies for Publishers
Eugene Youn of Opera Mediaworks will share where the mobile ad dollars are flowing and how publishers can capitalize on it and maximize their in-app ad revenue with the right placements. The session starts at 3:55pm on Day 1.

Leveraging Technology to Tell Better Stories Melissa Bell of Vox Media will discuss how leading publishers are leveraging the most engaging and immersive technologies to strike the right chord with their audiences, from breaking news to constructing brand narratives. The session will explore how to push boundaries while respecting the capacity of the reader in order to find the ideal storytelling balance.

Monetization Across Platforms
Michael Finnegan, the President of Atlantic Media will take the stage with moderator Brian Braiker to the share cross-platform publishing strategies that have proven successful for their business. In particular, they will discuss how publishers can lure audiences and make money while keeping control of their product.

Video on Platforms
Athan Stephanopoulos, President at NowThis will take the stage Tuesday morning to discuss video’s dominance of the feed and what publishers can do to drive long-term consistency over one-off viral hits.

Confessions of Agency Executives
In a bit of an unprecedented move, the panelists for this session are remaining anonymous. The panel, which “aims to demystify” the “critical partnership” between agencies and publishers, will feature three anonymous agency executives sharing “brutal truths” on stage. Don’t miss this intriguing, and possibly rather informative, session at 12:35pm on Tuesday.

How Technology Informs the New Yorker’s Storytelling
On the final day of the event, don’t miss this 10:30am session hosted by Lisa Hughes, CRO at The New Yorker. She’ll share how a traditional, legacy brand has pushed the limits of storytelling in ways that engages new audiences while staying true to its roots.
